Markisolettes combine the advantages of a vertical awning with those of a drop arm awning, closing downward then out, leaving the top portion of the window shaded but allowing natural diffuse light in through the lower portion. The lower blind can be tilted to attenuate natural light and can be completely closed.
Depending on fabric choice, the view to the outside can be maintained, which combined with the sun-shading characteristics makes them an ideal choice for low-rise office buildings and other commercial spaces.
Markisolettes are an attractive design, adding movement and interest to a facade, and they are a good choice for retro-fitting to heritage buildings.
