Blindspace - TrackTrim

TrackTrim is an aluminium plaster-in profile that supports motorised and manual curtain tracks from various curtain track systems. It features a minimalist flush finish with the ceiling. The curtain tracks feature a clip system that makes installation easy.

EARLY. Ideally TrackTrim needs to be considered as early in your project as possible to ensure:

1. a) you have enough time to work through the detail with your architect or builder
2. b) the necessary supporting structure can be incorporated into your design
3. c) sufficient lead-time is available for ordering. Allow 7-10 business days for the delivery of the Track Trim Extrusion. Allow 3 weeks for the dispatch of the Somfy Glydea Curtain track system.
4. If you want the track trim powder coated to a particular ceiling colour allow 5 weeks

However, because the TrackTrim profile is fairly compact it is possible to add TrackTrim to the ceiling later.

TrackTrim should be installed by your project builder and then finished by your plasterer. The curtain tracks are usually installed by your curtain supplier.

What variants are available?  How do I decide which one I need?

The choice of TrackTrim comes down to the curtain track you will select. There are two sizes. One fits most curtain track with specific clips to accommodate each. There is an alternative wider profile to accommodate Crestron curtain tracks.

Track Trim is supplied in an RAL 9016 Traffic White finish.

Custom colours are available to order. Allow a lead time of 5 weeks for custom colour orders.

Track Trim Curtain Track Recesses are available from Shade Factor and authorised dealers.

Shade Factor supplies the Track Trim Curtain Track Recess System in full lengths of 3.6 metres or cut to custom lengths. The installation must be provided by your builder or shading specialist in accordance with our supplied general instructions.

We strongly recommend providing specification drawings and details (available above) to your architect so that they can incorporate the Track Trim Curtain Track System in your project documentation.  Some builders may be willing to work with you to detail where the system will go and how it is incorporated into the ceiling structure and installed ready for blinds. In general, each recessed curtain track should be detailed so that the fit is accurate and sufficient supporting structure is allowed for.

If you intend to use motorised curtains, you will also need to detail this on the project electrical plan.

Track Trim Curtain Track Recesses can be retro-fitted in many cases to existing buildings, but that will need to be discussed with your architect or builder.  It can depend on how much space is available above the ceiling, whether the Track Trim Curtain Track Recesses will interfere with rafters, and a number of other factors.  One method of retro-fitting is to build a small bulkhead below the existing plane of the ceiling specifically to house Track Trim Curtain Track Recesses

Although custom TrackTrim radiused bends are available, when using Track Trim in corners it is important to consider the minimum radius your nominated track system can be bent to.

The corresponding clip with your compatible curtain track system will be supplied when you order Track Trim.

TrackTrim once installed has been designed to be easily plastered in by an experienced plasterer. Shade Factor offers detailed installation instructions which must be read in full and carefully followed.

Track Trim can not be used in a sloped ceiling or gable end as curtain track systems need to be installed on a plum ceiling. 

In a corner condition, curtains tracks are bent at specified angles to allow the curtains to travel around corners.

Track Trim corners are supplied in segements of 22.5 Degrees, where 4 pieces make up one 90 Degree Corner.

The radius bends are available in 330, 450 and 490 radius corners.
