Challenge

This Skyscraper located in Sydney’s CBD consists of thirty two floors of premium office space with an irregular ellipse and a raked roof plane.   Shade Factor was contracted to provide the shading solutions and control system.  Solutions for asymmetric shapes are not so common in the blind industry so this project required new engineering to produce a variety of new blind types to meet the clients brief.

Solution

Custom engineering & prototyping

Some important factors Shade Factor had to consider when providing sun-shading for these areas include:

  • Design of a solution for venetian blinds under the glass roof to operate in a reclined orientation
  • Design of a louvre solution to match the venetian blinds but within an irregular shape
  • Design of 3, 4 and 5 sided retractable textile sunshading operating from base up and top down
  • External Venetian Blind designed to work under glass
